Eagle Dynamics DCS: Black Shark 3 review

Shark Attack

DCS: Black Shark was Eagle Dynamics' first high-fidelity module for DCS World. Based on the Ka-50 attack helicopter, it was released in 2008 and featured deep systems modelling, a clickable 3D cockpit and realistic weapons and targeting systems. The upgraded Black Shark 2 came out three years later, adding multiplayer compatibility, an updated Mission Editor and various improvements to the cockpit.

Black Shark 3 is the latest instalment in the Ka-50 series, adding several major upgrades, including a highly detailed external 3D model, professional-level flight dynamics, new air-to-air weapons, a Missile Warning System (MWS) and for the first time in DCS, a highly accurate model of the Inertial Navigation Unit (INU). In this article, we review Eagle Dynamics' latest rendition of the Ka-50 for DCS World and see what advancements have been made over previous iterations of this formidable combat helicopter.
