EASA STC approval for IAI’s 737-800SF

Narrowbody passenger-to-freighter (P2F) conversions in Europe are set for a boost after Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) revealed its Boeing 737-800SF has received a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) supplemental type certificate (STC).

As a result, this means companies and operators from across the continent will have access to IAI’s popular 737-800BDSF cargo conversions.

The aerospace and defence company has disclosed that the first pair of converted aircraft “for which this approval will apply” have already been handed over to a Spanish-based customer. Meanwhile, a further example of the type is currently undergoing conversion, with IAI confirming the jet is scheduled to join the European fleet imminently.
