Egyptian Rafale plan threatened

Egypt’s desire to acquire another 12 Rafale fighter jets from Dassault seems to have stalled over refusal from the United States to supply components for the Scalp cruise missiles Egypt wishes to acquire with the aircraft. Egypt wants its Rafales to be armed with Mica airto- air missiles, Scalp cruise missiles and AASM Hammer guided missiles. It is understood the matter will be discussed during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the United States in April. Around half of the 24 Rafales Egypt ordered in February 2015 have been delivered, with more expected this year.
