For the first time since 2019, an Emirates Airbus A380 touched down in Glasgow, marking a further milestone in the Middle Eastern carrier’s post-pandemic recovery in the UK.
The iconic double-decker received a warm welcome by Scottish bagpipe players as it taxied to stand this afternoon (March 26).
“We restarted [at Glasgow] in August 2021 and flights have done consistently well since then so being able to upgrade the current daily 777 to an A380 is just a natural evolution – we're very pleased,” said Richard Jewsbury, divisional vice president UK at Emirates, in an exclusive interview with Key.Aero. “We've had great support from the Scottish community and it's nice to bring the aircraft back.”
