A new enhanced-performance version of the Mil Mi-171E, developed by MHP Mil and the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, has begun testing in Ulan-Ude. The version is mainly intended for paramilitary use and boasts features previously implemented on the civilcertified Mi-171A2.
Features include a redesigned fuselage and Klimov VK-2500PS-03 engines. The VK-2500PS-03 is rated at 2,700shp (2,013kW) in One Engine Inoperative (OEI) mode for 2.5 minutes and 2,400shp (1,789kW) for take-off. The cruise rating is 1,900shp (1,416kW).
The latest Mi-171E derivative also comes equipped with an all-new rotor system with composite blades, new rotor hub and swashplate, in addition to an X-shaped tail rotor and strengthened transmission.
