The Cypriot National Guard is an established Hind operator. Back in 2001, it took on strength as many as 12 newly built Mi-35Ps in 2001, but its acquisition of the armoured attack type was not officially acknowledged until December 2002.
Currently, 11 of these are in operational service after the loss of one in 2006. The Mi-35s equip the 2nd Platoon of the 240th Squadron at Andreas Papandreou Air Base near Paphos.
The Mi-35Ps built for Cyprus boast a unique configuration: shortened stub-wings, a non-retractable undercarriage and a GSh-2-30 30mm gun to the starboard, and interior and exterior lighting compatible with night-vision goggles (NVG).
