An ex-Delta 737 for £2,500? Kenya to auction 73 abandoned aircraft

The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has invited interested bidders to a public auction of uncollected derelict aircraft.

More than 70 examples are up for sale with reserve prices ranging from a mere £33 for a Hawker Siddeley HS 748, all the way up to £166,123 for a Piper PA-46-350P Malibu Mirage.

Notable commercial aircraft in the list include four Boeing 737-200s comprising two Jubba Airways examples – which both saw service with Delta Air Lines between 1987 and 2006 – and a pair of Aerospace Consortium jets which were first delivered to Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus in 1979. The quartet are all priced at just £2,703.
