F-15X: another American X-plane?


THE US Air Force has not bought any new-production Boeing F-15 Eagles since 2001. The future of its air-to-air specialist single-seat F-15Cs has not been decided, though it appears likely that they may be retired the early 2020s. Air-to-ground two-seat F-15Es are planned to remain operational until about 2040. No planned replacement for F-15Cs or F-15Es has been identified.
