The iconic jet flew from nearby RAF Fairford from 1969 to 1976. Local sponsor Doug Newton, a former Concorde Flight Test Inspector, said: “Concorde 002 flew into RAF Fairford on April 9, 1969 to begin extensive flight testing. This serves as a thank you to residents who should be very proud of their connection with the pioneering days of supersonic flight.”
