For many years the distinctive voice of Raymond Baxter was synonymous with Farnborough Airshow, due to him presenting the BBC’s coverage of the aeronautical extravaganza. In this October 1978 article in ‘Aeroplane Monthly’ he gives a personal take on the famous airshow

“Cor mister! Is that a model or a real one?" I could understand the incredulity of my questioner. He was about ten years old and his bright eyes were almost crossed with excitement. Quite right too! The Farnborough Show must have set tingling the senses of more people than any other single event in the history of aviation.
