When World War I commenced in 1914, the face of military aviation would change forever. It is widely known and accepted that the four year conflict transformed aviation from an experimental, little known science into a new and more efficient form of aerial warfare. The flimsy airframes that had previously been able to leave the ground for just a few seconds were quickly transformed into military machines which could cross oceans. And for Britain, it all began at Farnborough Aircraft Factory.
