The fascinating story of BBMF Hurricane PZ865 ‘The Last of the Many’

Daniel Ford charts the colours of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s PZ865

Completed at Hawker’s factory at Langley, Buckinghamshire on July 27, 1944, Mk.IIc PZ865 was the last of the more than 14,500 Hurricanes to be built. To mark this milestone, the fighter had The Last of the Many! adorned on both sides of its fuselage. It was flown by Gp Capt P W S ‘George’ Bulman, who had flown prototype Hurricane on November 6, 1935.
