The fascinating ways airports are getting greener

Sustainability is back on the agenda and many airport operators have been analysing their environmental impact. Here are some of the eco stories from across Europe that you might have missed over recent weeks...

 

Bristol’s green boost

Bristol Airport and easyJet announced they have achieved close to zero-emission aircraft turnarounds through the use of electric-powered ground equipment instead of diesel. The initiative is part of a collaboration between the two companies to decarbonise ground operations at the southwest England gateway. The trial results suggest a 97% reduction in CO2 emissions using the daily data produced during the initial test period in September 2021.
