The last of 157 Eurofighter Typhoons to be delivered to the Royal Air Force landed at RAF Coningsby, Lincolnshire on October 4. The jet, a Typhoon FGR4 serial number ZK437, is an example of the most up-todate version of the aircraft, the so-called Tranche 3. It made its first flight at BAE Systems’ facility on August 1, 2019 and will now be readied for squadron service at Coningsby.
A ceremony was held at BAE Systems’ final assembly facility at Warton to mark the latest milestone delivery.
Andy Flynn, Typhoon Capability Director for BAE Systems – Air, said: “Typhoon was designed to continuously evolve and its untapped potential continues to be realised with new investments in radar, communications, data management, weapons and connectivity further strengthening its role in the frontline of securing the skies over the UK.”
The company’s production facility in Warton, Lancashire, is now gearing up to start assembly of Typhoons for the Qatari Emiri Air Force, with the first jet due to be delivered in 2022.
