First four ex-Slovak Air Force MiG-29s depart for Ukraine

On March 23, the first four of the 13 recently retired from active service from the Slovak Air Force have been transferred to Ukraine

The four Soviet-era fighters departed Sliač Air Base and were piloted by Ukrainian pilots and serviced by Ukrainian technicians who had arrived in Slovakia to collect them, they were devoid of any national insignia but in a video released by the Slovak government, serials 6124 and 2123 can be seen as well as an aircraft in digital camouflage, presumably 0619.

Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger announced on Mar. 17, 2023, that the Government of Slovakia approved the transfer of 13 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, after these four were delivered by air, it is expected that the remaining nine will be delivered by road, possibly as a spares source for Ukraine’s current fleet of MiG-29s including the other incoming airframes from Poland.
