NATO Air Command has officially confirmed the first international air arm set to participate in the upcoming Exercise Cobra Warrior.
In a statement, the organisation revealed the recently concluded Italian Air Force’s Exercise Typhoon Flag, featuring the Typhoon wings of the air arm “was a preparation for the multinational exercise Cobra Warrior hosted by the Royal Air Force in September."
Key Aero approached the RAF earlier this year for the dates of this exercise but was told they would be released nearer the time.
The first Cobra Warrior of 2022 was due to take place in March but was cancelled due to Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Italian Air Force Typhoons last took part in this exercise in September 2019 flying from RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire. The base where the air arm will operate from for the upcoming exercise is not yet known.
Key Aero has approached the RAF for more details on Exercise Cobra Warrior and will post an update when more information comes to light.
