The first two NH90 helicopters of the naval operations NATO Frigate Helicopter (NFH) variant were delivered to the Qatar Emiri Air Force (QEAF) on March 31.
The two aircraft will be dedicated to Qatar’s naval missions and were handed over during an official ceremony at Leonardo’s Venice Tessera facility in Italy. QEAF representatives were present, as well as representatives of Leonardo and NH Industries.
The two NFH variants follow two Tactical Transport Helicopter (TTH) variants recently delivered to Qatar. The TTH variants were delivered from Airbus Helicopters facility in Marignane, France.
Airbus Helicopters are responsible for the final assembly of the 16 NH90 TTH models destined for Qatar, with deliveries of all models scheduled to continue to 2025.

The provision of maintenance and training services and infrastructure is included in the package. In addition, Qatar's programme has the possibility to extend to a further 12 helicopters delivered, these being a combination of TTH and NFH models.
Leonardo is the prime contractor for Qatar’s programme and holds the responsibility for the final assembly and delivery of the 12 ordered NH90 NFHs. The company is also responsible for the supply or integration of various systems on to the NH90, including the Leonardo LEOSS-T HD electro-optical system, HD Mission Video Recorder, automatic identification system, tactical video link and full HD display for cabin consoles.
Leonardo is also to supply simulators, training and maintenance support to QEAF personnel throughout the programme.
