A true study sim
At the risk of repeating this story, my love for aviation was fostered early in life when, as a pre-teen, my friends and I would ride our bicycles the nearly 20 miles from my house in Northern Virginia to Gravelly Point Park, a grassy field adjacent to the Potomac River which overlooked what was then called Washington National Airport (KDCA). From the vantage point at Gravelly Point, one could watch all kinds of aircraft arriving and departing the riverfront airport with the scenic backdrop of Washington DC in the near distance. One of my favourite aircraft to watch land and take-off was always the sleek McDonnell Douglas MD-80 series aircraft. The long fuselage, clean tapered wing and aft-mounted engines just exude aerodynamic greatness.
