The Dash 8 Q400 for X-Plane 11

All in the family

The Dash 8 family of twin-turboprop regional airliners has been with us since 1984 with the release of the 37-seat -100. As demand and popularity grew, a number of extended versions have been released which has currently culminated in the Q400 NextGen, with this version carrying up to 90 people over 1,100nm. The ‘Q’ designation refers to the implementation of active noise and vibration suppression technology which gives the passengers a much quieter and smoother ride. In 2017 then-owner Bombardier claimed that the Q400 had logged seven million hours with 60 operators worldwide quoting a 99.5% dispatch reliability – all with less fuel per passenger than any competition, including regional jet aircraft. No wonder it has become one of the world’s most popular regional turboprop airliners.
