Welcome to the second instalment of our In Focus series where we put the spotlight on key players in the flight simulation industry and find out more about their history, products and plans for the future. This time, we asked Aerosoft's Managing Director, Winfried Diekmann, to talk about the company and give us his thoughts on the future of the hobby.
PC Pilot: Hi Winfried and thank you for taking the time to speak with us. To start things off, can you tell us how you got involved in flight simulation and how it led to Aerosoft being formed?
Winfried: I came into flight simulation completely out of the blue. In 1991, two classmates wanted to set up a company called Aerosoft to provide flight training software and hardware for real pilots and students. I was asked to become a shareholder as I had just founded a marketing firm with one of them. In 1995, I became the Managing Director and purchased the majority of the shares during the following years.
