French Tigers change stripes

Airbus Helicopters announced on December 21 it had delivered the first of 36 Tiger helicopters upgraded to Hélicoptère d’Appui Destruction (HAD) configuration to the Aviation Légère de l’Armée de Terre (Army Aviation), following the successful completion of a formal acceptance process conducted by the Direction générale de l’armement (French procurement agency). Upgrades include an increase in maximum take-off weight, more powerful MTU Turbomeca Rolls-Royce MTR 390E engines and a new Safran STRIX roof-mounted sight, which incorporates a laser designator for the Lockheed Martin AGM-114 Hellfire II missile.
