The Gnat Display Team conducted the first postrestoration taxi trial of its single-seat Folland Gnat F1, G-SLYR, at North Weald, Essex, on 28 September. Chris Heames was at the controls. The ex-Indian Air Force machine, built by Hindustan Aircraft Ltd in Bangalore, carried serials IE296 and E296 in service. A maiden flight of the aircraft, which will be the sole Gnat fighter flying in the world, will hopefully occur soon.
