Gulf Air signs MoU with RAK International Airport

The new partnership is set to increase services between Ras Al Khaimah and the Kingdom of Bahrain


The national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Gulf Air, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ras Al Khaimah International Airport (RAK).

The partnership’s aim is to increase connectivity between the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

RAK is increasing its status as a major transport and logistics hub within the UAE, with high-ranking executives present for the virtual ceremony held for the signing of the MoU.

Amongst the members of the airline and RAK that attended the event was Captain Waleed AlAlawi, Acting Chief Executive of Gulf Air and Sanjay Khanna, Chief Executive officer of RAK.

“Gulf-state connectivity is a key tenet of our expansion strategy, and with its long history, commendable track record, and vast network, Gulf Air is an ideal partner for this mission,” said Sanjay Khanna. “Aiming to build connectivity between the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and the Kingdom of Bahrain. This move will allow residents, expats, and tourists in the Northern Emirates of the UAE to connect to as far as the Philippines in the east and London in the west.”

Waleed AlAlawi expressed that he is very much looking forward to the addition of RAK to the airlines network, whilst adding that he is “extremely impressed” with the facilities offered by the airport.

In November 2020, RAK began passenger services with SpiceJet flying from Delhi. Mumbai, Lucknow and Cochin were added at the beginning of this year.

Founded in 1950, Gulf Air was one of the first commercial airlines in the Middle East. Flights are operated from Bahrain International Airport to destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Far East and Indian sub-continent.
