Gulfstream delivers last G450

GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE has delivered the last G450 to a customer, closing production of an aircraft that first entered service, as the Gulfstream IV, over 30 years ago. The aircraft is being replaced in the Gulfstream portfolio by the G500.

The current G450 fleet of 360 aircraft has accumulated in excess of 964,000 flight hours and over 461,000 flights.

Gulfstream Aerospace President Mark Burns said: “For the past 12 years, the G450 has been one of the best-selling business jets in the industry, beloved by pilots and passengers alike for its technological advances, smooth handling, impressive range and unsurpassed passenger comfort.

During its 30-year history the Gulfstream IV series transformed business aviation, and the G500 is well on its way to doing the same.” Powered by two Rolls-Royce Tay turbofans, the first Gulfstream IV made the type’s maiden flight from Gulfstream’s facility in Savannah, Georgia, in September 1985, and entered service in 1987. The G450 entered production in October 2004. It entered service the following year and enjoyed an unbroken production run of more than 13 years.

Gulfstream said the aircraft offers a range of 4,350 nautical miles (8,056km) at Mach 0.80, and 3,500 nautical miles (6,482km) at Mach 0.85.

Burns added: “The G450 made its mark in aviation history and remains an important member of the Gulfstream family. We will continue to provide product support and sustaining engineering for our customers.” Nigel Pittaway
