H145M bid for Australian Special Forces

Airbus Australia Pacific’s recently appointed Managing Director, Andrew Mathewson, has confirmed that the company has responded to an Australian government request for information for a Special Operations support helicopter.

In a press release dated March 18, 2019, Mathewson said Airbus Australia Pacific would offer the Airbus Helicopters H145M, in conjunction with selected media partners and the provision of training, maintenance, logistics and engineering activities.

The Australian Army’s Project Land 2097 Phase 4 will see the acquisition of at least 16 multirole commercial off-the-shelf or military off-the-shelf helicopters in the 4-tonne class. The Commonwealth’s overall timeline calls for a request for tender in the fourth quarter of 2019 and deliveries to begin in the 2022 timeframe.

Mathewson said: “The Airbus H145M helicopter is the military version of the H145, based on a commercial off-theshelf platform with militaryspecific modifications and is an operationally proven, affordable and low-risk option for Australia

…Airbus stands ready to respond to the next stage in the tender process.”
