Germany’s Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr (Federal Offce of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-service Support) has placed an order with Airbus Helicopters for seven H145 helicopters, for delivery in 2020.

The H145s will be based at Niederstetten, Holzdorf and Nörvenich, used in the SAR role and replace the fleet of Bell UH-1D Iroquois currently in service with the Heeresflieger’s Transporthubschrauberregiment 30 at Niederstetten.

The Luftwaffe currently operates 15 H145M helicopters, flying with LuftTransport Gruppe at Holzdorf in support of German Special Forces. Nigel Pittaway
