Helicopter safety: more work needed?

Helicopters, and their uses, are constantly evolving. Mark Broadbent looks into the work being done to promote safety and prevent accidents.

Recent years have seen several high-profile civil helicopter accidents, including the August 2021 loss of an Mi-8 in Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula; the January 2020 crash of a Sikorsky S-76B in California, which killed the US basketball star Kobe Bryant, and accidents involving heli-ski flights in the Italian Alps.
