Hill Helicopters and its revolutionary HX50

UK start-up Hill Helicopters is taking big steps towards its goal of ‘disrupting’ the general aviation market with its revolutionary HX50. Will it succeed? Mark Broadbent investigates

With its sleek, futurist, contoured lines, elegant passenger cabin and advanced cockpit, the HX50 is one of the most eye-catching aircraft in development. Created by Hill Helicopters, based in Rugeley, Staffordshire, this stylish-looking five-seat, 500hp turbine-powered machine is scheduled to fly during this summer, with certification and first customer delivery following a year later. Three aircraft will be built initially to support flight testing, then two more.
