Hot weather reportedly closes RAF Brize Norton runway… again

Key Aero is receiving information that the runway has been closed at RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, reportedly due to damage caused by the high temperatures currently impacting much of the UK.

A NOTAM was issued earlier today stating that the sole runway at the UK’s military transport hub, home to the RAF’s C-130J Hercules, A400M Atlas, C-17A Globemaster III and Voyager fleets, was closed from 11:43am this morning and will remain shut until 00:59 on July 23.

This follows a closure of the same runway for a period in July 2021 due to parts of it being affected by high temperatures.

Key Aero has made enquiries to the UK MoD for more information and will post an update when further details are received.
