After two years of lockdowns and travel restrictions, the prospect of being paid to travel the world might sound tempting. The surge in passenger demand means many airlines are in recruitment mode, as they scout out the next generation of cabin crew.
Airliner World: It’s a busy time for aviation as the pandemic subsides – talk us through what’s going on at the moment within your team?
Emma Baker: Right now we’re in the middle of a full-on recruitment drive in the UK, Australia and a lot of European countries. As opportunities are open to all nationalities, we go all over the world as part of our search.
ALW: Do you need formal aviation experience to apply as cabin crew?
EB: Not at all. We consider anybody that's got at least a year's experience in the hospitality industry. We're looking for people with a positive attitude and natural ability to provide excellent service in a team environment. Our minimum educational requirements are a high school diploma and fluency in English. Obviously, we deal with people from many different cultures, so if they have the ability to speak another language that’s a definite advantage. We have more than 160 nationalities in our cabin crew team.
