Giant flying boats and wine: how Microsoft Flight Simulator celebrated 40 years

Microsoft Flight Simulator reached a historic milestone this month when it celebrated its 40th anniversary in style at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. Thomas Haynes reports from the special event

Forty years is a long time by any measure. Most entertainment products don’t even last a fraction of that time, so those that do are a rare breed. Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) celebrated its 40th anniversary in November and to mark the occasion, the software giant released a special update.

Ahead of its release, PC Pilot was invited to an event in McMinnville, Oregon at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum to celebrate the milestone and gain insight from the development team into their plans for the latest iteration of the simulator.
