I have a reputation for knowing things. Friends text me with questions, people stop me in the street, certain in the knowledge that I know the way they need to go. Even my wife accepts my answers when watching game shows, regardless of whether I know anything about the subject. However, I knew very little about the subject of this review, Alice Springs, apart from the fact that it is in the middle of the vast country of Australia.
I expected it to be a barren wilderness of red soil, high heat and little else. When I got the chance to review Impulse Simulations’ Alice Springs, I jumped at the chance to be proven wrong. My challenge was two-fold. First, visit the real Alice Springs in the sim and see if it really is just an empty outback. And secondly, to squeeze in as many Aussie references as I could. Fair dinkum, it's a real challenge.
The first Alice Springs Airport was built in 1921. Years later, as World War Two rumbled on to the horizon though, a newer field was built to accommodate larger aircraft.
