The first production Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk for the Indian Navy has completed its maiden flight.
The helicopter – serial IN754 – took to the air for the first time from Lockheed Martin-Sikorsky’s Rotary and Mission Systems facility in Owego, New York, on April 20. It is one of 24 on order through a government-to-government agreement signed between India and the US on February 26, 2020.
To expedite delivery, the first three are helicopters that are being diverted from those already in production for the US Navy. A production contract was awarded to the manufacturer on May 14, 2020, for the remaining 21, along with three for the US Navy to replace those diverted to India.
