A further two Bell 412EPi utility helicopters have entered service with the Tentara Nasional Indonesia-Angkatan Darat (TNI-AD, Indonesian Army).
The helicopters both left local manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia’s (PTDI’s) production facility in Bandung – the capital of the nation’s West Java province – on their delivery flight on July 21. During the ferry flight, the two aircraft carried temporary taped-on manufacturer test registrations: HX-4146 (c/n 37028), formerly C-FVSC, and HX-4147 (c/n 37029), ex C-FVYE. When the helicopters entered TNI-AD service, they received the serials HA-5227 and HA-5228, respectively.
Indonesia’s two new Bell 412EPi helicopters have joined Skadron Udara Angkatan Darat 11 Serbu (SkUAD 11, Army Aviation Squadron 11-Assault) at Achmad Yani Airport in Semarang, Java. These rotorcraft are part of a contract for nine examples of the type for the TNI-AU, which was announced by PTDI on January 10, 2019. The first 412EPi was delivered from Bandung on December 29, 2020, followed by the second on February 17, 2021, and the third on February 19, 2021. All five of those delivered to date are operational with SkUAD 11.
