Initial Standard II NH90 for Spanish Army

THE FIRST series-produced Fuerzas Aeromóviles del Ejército de Tierra (FAMET, Spanish Army Airmobile Forces) NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopter (TTH) in Standard II configuration at Albacete on September 17.

HT.29-14/10210 ‘ET-814’ is to be handed over to the army before the end of the year. Until then it will be used to certify the new configuration – including a port-side forwardlooking infrared turret – before becoming the first TTH Standard II in FAMET service.

The first Spanish order included a total of 16 NH90s for FAMET (12 handed over so far) and six search-andrescue- configured Standard II helicopters for the air force, which should receive its first example next year. An order for 23 additional NH90s was signed last November: ten will be operated by FAMET, six by the air force and seven by the Spanish Navy.
