Inside Etihad Engineering

Etihad Engineering is the Middle East’s largest commercial aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider. Paul Eden speaks with the company’s vice-president of technical sales, Frederic Dupont, to determine how the engineering giant is separating itself from global competitors.

Etihad Engineering was the darling of the annual Aviation Business Awards ceremony held in Dubai last October. The firm scooped the MRO Service Provider of the Year award for the fifth time since 2014 while chief executive, Abdul Khaliq Saeed, was recognised as Aviation Executive of the Year. Both awards reflect the company’s leading position in the region, where it continues to thrive in the face of fierce competition.

Given such success, some assume that the majority of Etihad Engineering’s work comes from its parent company, so it may come as a surprise to learn that it accounts for just a quarter of the overall workload.
