The aircraft (XX975/07) arrived in Montrose after transportation by road from its previous, long-time home at RAF Cosford, Shropshire, by the Royal Air Force Joint Aircraft Recovery and Transportation Squadron (JARTS).
A Facebook post by the Heritage Centre said: “A special thank you to all the guys in the JARTS team for their superb efforts in making sure that our Jaguar GR.1 fitted into the designated display space...after a little bit of aircraft ballet and careful measuring.”
Another post said: “The next stage is to prepare the new exhibit for public viewing and we will keep you posted on the first display date, when we are satisfied that everything is safe and ready.”
The centre added: “A huge thank you to the JARTS team for all their support and generosity of knowledge and time that has supported this installation.”
JARTS moved another former RAF fast jet exhibit at Montrose, Tornado GR.4 ZD744/’072’, to the museum in 2022. The centre said: “As ever it is always a huge pleasure to work once again with our professional Royal Air Force partners.”
