Japan’s triple seven

The first Boeing 777-3SB(ER) for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) arrived at Chitose Air Base, home of the Special Air Transport Corps that currently lies two Boeing 747-400 executive transports, on August 17, 2018. Boeing 777-3SB(ER) construction number 62439 and line number 1422 was delivered wearing the Boeing test registration N509BJ, but by August 30 it had been formally handed over to the JASDF and was seen with serial 80-1111.

The second aircraft ordered to replace the Boeing 747s, 80- 1112, was at Basel, Switzerland, for itting out in August 2018.
