Just Flight's C-46 Commando

A Flying Commando

Just Flight’s C-46 Commando

Waiting on the stand for the passengers to board.

One of the many benefits of modern flight simulators is the wide range of aircraft they allow us to fly, not forgetting of course the similarly diverse choice of airfields to fly into. In the case of aircraft, they are almost exclusively types that we could never hope to even climb aboard, let alone sit in command of the cockpit.

This latest product from Just Flight depicts just such an example, the Curtiss C-46 Commando. There are five known aircraft still in active service, which are predominantly sited in fairly remote rugged regions of the world, for example Alaska, Bolivia and Manitoba in Canada. There are however many examples on static display around the world, with quite a few more mothballed that I understand could potentially be returned to service.

Flying with the USAF.
