FlyTampa has recompiled Hong Kong Kai Tak using the P3Dv4 SDK to make it fully compatible with Prepar3D version 4. The update is free for existing owners of Kai Tak.
Like the previous release, the package models Hong Kong city in detail with custom mesh, landclass and photorealistic textures. Thousands of custom buildings have been recreated throughout the city including landmarks on the famous curved checkerboard approach. The scenery also comes with two heliports: Peninsula Hotel rooftop and Shun-Tak Ferry heliport, while animated AI ships including Hong Kong’s Star Ferry, junks and barges cruise along the harbour. Other highlights include unique night effects such as animated light beams, light pollution and fireworks.
Features in the new package unique to Prepar3D version 4 include SimObjects Display Engine (SODE) jetways and safe gates, along with improved loading times and dynamic lighting with a low visibility airport lighting option. Other updates in version 2 include:
• Ground polygons using z-bias (or depth bias) method
• Pavement textures
• New ground markings
• IGS 13 approach lighting
• 3D grass
• Rain and wet surface effects
• Static general aviation aircraft
• 3D animated ground crew
• Updated night textures
