With soaring interest in converted and custom-built cargo aircraft, manufacturers are scrambling to meet enormous demand. Richard Schuurman speaks to some of the key players within this booming sector

The last 12 months have seen some fascinating developments in the freighter world. Yes, there have been some bumps on the ascent – not least surrounding supply chain issues – but all indications are that annual growth of four per cent until at least 2040 will supercharge the prospects of the global air cargo business (see Airliner World December 2021).
