Laughlin T-38C crash report released

Attrition Report

USAF 87th FTS T-38C 67-14951, in special 100th anniversary colours, flying near Laughlin AFB on May 17 last year. A similar aircraft from the unit, 68‑8152 ‘XL’, was the example that crashed last November 13.

HEADQUARTERS AIR Education and Training Command has released the official Aircraft Investigation Board (AIB) report into the crash of a T-38C Talon at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, on the night of November 13 last year – see Attrition, January, p90. The report, published on June 17, identifies the aircraft as 68-8152 ‘XL’ assigned to Laughlin’s resident 87th Flying Training Squadron, 47th Flying Training Wing.
