Leasing GSE equipment could play a key role in airports’ post-pandemic recovery

The aviation industry has struggled for positive news headlines in recent months. Staff shortages have triggered flight delays and cancellations, with long queues causing complaints from passengers from Stansted to Schiphol. While the increased passenger footfall being witnessed across much of the world will help future airport and other operator profits – and is cause for celebration after a catastrophic two years for the industry – in the short term, at least, surging demand is pushing parts of the system to breaking point. While this is being felt most acutely in airport staffing, which has struggled to keep pace with the resurgence in air travel, ensuring adequate provision of ground support equipment (GSE) is an equally important factor.
