The summer of 2021 was one of the worst in decades for open space fires that devastated lives, land, forests, houses and tourism across the Balkans – in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey.
