Running out of fuel at night in a raging sandstorm was not what WO Panayotis Frangoyannis of the Royal Hellenic Air Force had been trained for. Yet, on 8 May 1943, he and the crew of his 13 Mira Bristol Blenheim V found themselves in precisely that predicament.
