Just over a year ago the Monarch Group was hitting newspaper headlines that questioned its financial via bility and chances of survival. It faced a mountain of issues that had severely undermined its position in the market. The sinking value of the pound after the Brexit vote, the ban on flights to Sharm el-Sheikh airport, a slump in demand for flights to Turkey amid terrorism fears and ferocious competition from low-cost short-haul airlines, all contributed to the group’s then perilous position.
