MH-139 to replace US Air Force UH-1s

Boeing announced on September 24, 2018, that it will supply the MH-139 helicopter, based on the Leonardo Helicopters AW139, to the US Air Force, to replace the ageing Bell UH-1N Huey (Iroquois) helicopters.

Under the contract, Leonardo will assemble the helicopters in Philadelphia and Boeing will integrate the military-specific equipment.

The MH-139 will be used to protect the United States’ intercontinental ballistic missile bases. Up to 84 helicopters will be acquired under the $2.4 billion deal, which also includes training and support.
