I feel I should start by saying that the update procedure Microsoft has adopted leaves a lot to be desired. Not for the first time, many users have had problems navigating through the complicated method of applying these updates and sadly, that includes yours truly.
I always wait a day before updating, to give the servers time to address those who wait with fingers hovering over their mouse buttons. Then it’s generally just a matter of launching the sim, where I’m told there’s an update available, followed by the Microsoft store which opens with a link to it. Yet this time the store didn’t show one.
After going round in circles for a while accompanied by numerous reboots, I checked on Google to find I was not alone. However, I did eventually find the answer on the FSX Times website. The secret is to launch the Xbox App, select the sim within the app and then you’ll see the update. From there it's the usual procedure of installing the first part of the installation before launching the sim to complete the process. That, however, doesn’t install the content from this world update; you also have to go to the ‘Marketplace’ within the sim to install the extra 5.1 GB of data. I wish M…
