Mosquito taxi runs begin

On 6 May, Tony Agar’s de Havilland Mosquito NFII HJ711 made its fi rst public taxi run during the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre’s de Havilland Day at East Kirkby. Restored over a period of 40 years by Tony and a team of volunteers, the machine is the fi rst Mosquito to move under its own power in the UK since the tragic loss of the British Aerospace-operated Mosquito TIII, RR299, at Barton airfi eld in Manchester in July 1996.

The LAHC’s Avro Lancaster VII, NX611, will be making regular taxi runs during the summer, and the ‘Lanc’ and ‘Mossie’ will both be featured during the East Kirkby Air Show on 3 August. Only 5,000 tickets will be available for the event, so early booking is advised: go to www.lincsaviation.co.uk.
