Asobo Studios has released World Update IX for Microsoft Flight Simulator, covering Italy and Malta.

The scenery area has been refined with the latest geospatial data, including digital elevation, aerial and satellite imagery and triangulated irregular network (TIN) modelling of 20 cities, including Rome, Naples, Venice, and Milan.

Various third-party developers have also enhanced the scenery. Gaya Simulations handcrafted four airports: Palermo Airport (LICJ) in Sicily, Sondrio Airport (LILO) in the southern Tyrol, Marina di Campo Airport (LIRJ) on Elba Island and Bolanzo Airport (LIPB) in the southern Tyrol, while Orbx enhanced the detail of 100 others.

Additionally, Gaya created 94 points of interest in Italy and 11 in Malta for World Update IX, while Perfect Flight built nine activities: three bush trips (Apennines, Sardinia Tour, Sicily Journey), three discovery flights (Venice, Rome, Florence), and three landing challenges(Reggio Calabria, Palermo Falcone Borsellino Genova Sestri).

World Update IX: Italy is available for free to all owners of Microsoft Flight Simulator on the in-game Marketplace.
